APC chieftain faults establishment of DSTDA

A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Chief Emmanuel Ogwuda, has faulted the establishment of the state Territory Development Agency, DSTDA, saying it should be scrapped and replaced with Delta State Capital Development Authority, DSCDA.

Ogwuda, in Asaba during the grand finale of his sensitisation mission organised by thousands of his supporters, said that the agency “looked like an organisation that sells goods and services.” Noting that if established, “DSCDA should be headed by a Mayor, who will be a member of the State Executive Council, accountable to the government with powers to employ, train and generate revenue to pay their staff.

” He said that the DSCDA should be modelled after the Federal Capital Territory Authority, which has a Minister who is a member of the Federal Executive Council, adding, “Asaba has developed a formidable revenue base to fund the state capital without any barrier just like what obtains in Abuja.”

Ogwuda, who is aspiring to represent the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, said if given the opportunity to serve, he will transform the area. He accused past and current representatives of the area at the National Assembly of gross negligence in their legislative assignments, “especially when it has to do with the moribund Asaba Textile Mill compared to the one in Kaduna that is functioning.”
