New Music: Terry Apala - "Social Media"

Following his selection as one of MTV Base’s artistes to watch this year, indigenous afro-pop/fusion artiste Terry Apala has released his first single of the year, a thumping mid tempo song called ‘Social Media’. In his signature Apala Hip-Hop style, Terry sings about the unrealistic portrayal of their lives that social media encourages people to do for public affirmation.
Despite the strong moral message, Terry’s delivery on the Pitch produced track is sure to make it a fan favourite. If this is any indication of what he has in store this year, it is truly going to be the year ‘Two Thousand and Apala’.

Many persons were feared killed Thursday night after Boko Haram sect launched a late evening attack on Rann, the headquarters of Kala Balge local government area of Borno State, sources said. It was gathered that a village, where hundreds of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and humanitarian workers are camping, suddenly came under serious attack by armed Boko Haram gunmen. A security personnel who asked not to be named confirmed to Premium Times via telephone that the attack started at about 7pm. “We got the report that Rann was being attacked at about 7pm and that many persons may have been affected but no one can clearly say the number of dead casualty,” the source said. “We have to wait till morning before one could tell exactly what happened there,” he added.

Global:Tens Of Thousands Flee Western Canada Wildfires

   The devastating fires in British Columbia and the Northwest Territories are just the latest in a summer of dramatic wildfires across the country that have left millions of acres scorched. According to estimates, 19,000 people were evacuated from Yellowknife, the Northwest Territories capital, over 48 hours, its environment minister Shane Thompson said late Friday. The city, home to some 20,000, was largely a ghost town following the largest ever evacuation from the region.
