The struggling Youth.

Image
However possible is it that a Man should thrive should be his first priority to himself first and then to the ones closest and loved by him. If not for the renewing strength each day gives, what would have become of me if my strength fails. See the thing here is the system has us chained. Our efforts are not blessed even when they are doubled🫣🫣. A youth wakes with a renewed strength in the morning but before done the hopes lie in darkness. The day brings nothing but more news that makes the youthful mind wonder if there is ever light at the end of the tunnel our leaders dig and are still digging.😣😣😣😣. Even if I say,‘I am tired’ 😔😔😔, the strokes of hunger keeps hitting me wit the reminder of SAPA Go Kill thoughts 😖😖. The sun is scourging and my belly grunting with thoughts that don’t deserve to be read by the public. But we keep moving, hustling and grinding. When economy hood my past hardwork face go show. And when e show, men go continue dai huzzle.

Nigeria set to resume local flights from July 8

Image
Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 speaks during a media briefing in Abuja, Nigeria. Nigeria will resume domestic flights from July 8, the government said on Wednesday, as Africa’s most populous country relaxes novel coronavirus restrictions despite mounting cases and deaths. The airports for the capital Abuja and Lagos will open on July 8, while a handful of others are set to open July 11 and the rest on July 15, the government said on its official Twitter account. No date was given for the resumption of international flights. Nigeria had confirmed more than 25,000 coronavirus cases and almost 600 deaths as of Wednesday, with little sign of the outbreak slowing. Officials have expressed their concern that the outbreak in the West African country might become much worse. Yet the government is keenly aware of the economic toll of the virus, which has crushed the price of oil, on which Nigeria depends. Officials have steadily eased measures aim...

Oil price slump results in drop of global bonds, stocks

Image
A renewed slump in oil prices to seven-month lows dragged down world stocks on Wednesday and flattened bond curves as bets that inflation and interest rates will stay lower for even longer began to build again. Signs of a growing glut of supply sent Brent crude futures skidding back to $45.50 a barrel as European trading gathered momentum. Poorly performing banking stocks also made for a weak start for London, Paris and Frankfurt's stock markets. The slide in energy costs boosted bond prices and flattened yield curves as investors priced in lower inflation for longer, while safe-haven flows underpinned the Japanese yen. The spread between yields on U.S. five-year notes and 30-year bonds US5US30=TWEB shrank to the smallest since 2007 as investors wagered the Federal Reserve might have to delay further rate hikes. Thirty-year German debt yields bonds also tumbled back toward two-month lows, adding to a more than 20-basis-point drop over the past month and ahead of what ...

Apple may ditch Dialog, analyst says, hitting chipmaker's shares

Image
Dialog Semiconductor  risks losing a crucial supply deal with Apple Inc, according to a financial analyst who cut his rating on the stock on Tuesday, sending the Anglo-German chipmaker's shares down by as much as one-third. Bankhaus Lampe reduced its rating on Dialog to "sell" from "hold" as it argued that Apple was working on its own battery-saving chip for the iPhone that could replace Dialog's power management integrated circuits  as early as 2019. Fbor more than 70 percent of Dialog's 2016 sales, analysts estimate. The German company says it is the world's top maker of power management chips used in smartphones with roughly 20 percent of the market. Shares in Dialog fell as much as 36 percent on Tuesday to a seven-month low. They had more than doubled in the second half of 2016 on rising expectations for the iPhone 8 due out later in 2017. By 1052 GMT, they had pared losses by half to trade down 19 percent at 37.70 euros ($38.87). Appl...

Saudi Arabia wants oil price to rise to $60/barrel

Image
Saudi Arabia wants crude oil prices to rise to around $60 a barrel this year, five sources from OPEC countries and the oil industry said. This is the level the OPEC heavyweight and its Gulf allies - the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Qatar - believe would encourage investment in new fields but not lead to a jump in U.S. shale output, the sources said. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, Russia and other producers pledged last year to cut production by about 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd) from Jan. 1. The first cut in eight years is intended to boost prices and get rid of a supply glut. Crude prices LCOc1 have risen by more than 14 percent since the November pact but are still only trading around $56 a barrel despite record compliance by OPEC and non-OPEC members. OPEC officials have repeatedly said the group does not target a specific oil price and their focus is on drawing global oil inventories and helping the market to re-balance. But behind cl...

Dollar To Crash Again As CBN Floods Market With Fresh $180m

Image
The naira has been gaining steadily against the U.S dollar in three days of trading at the parallel market. The dollar sold for N510 on Tuesday, dropping to N505 Wednesday and fell to about N470 at the end of trading yesterday as more people trooped to the market to sell their foreign currency. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Monday changed its rules in the supply of the foreign exchange (Forex) where it guaranteed currency supply to both small and big users. On Tuesday about $500 million was released through the interbank market where the 23 banks bought $371m. The naira also gained against other currencies such as the Pound sterling which traded at 645 a day earlier but slipped to 610 while the Euro came down from N537 to N507 at the end of trading yesterday. Traders at Zone 4, Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt attributed the firming up of the naira to the new policy introduced by CBN. Mr. Mohammed Salisu, a trader in zone 4 said “buyers are sceptical while sellers ar...

Samsung Electronics Co. to tighten board's oversight on donations

Image
Tech giant Samsung Electronics is tightening board oversight on donations while two senior Samsung Group executives reportedly offered to resign, as the conglomerate struggles with the fallout from a graft scandal that led to its leader’s arrest. Samsung Electronics said on Friday its board of directors will now vote on any financial support to third parties worth 1 billion won (an equivalent of $886,210.56) or more and disclose any such payments publicly. Previously, only payments of 680 billion won or more were subject to board approval. “This move improves transparency in financial aid and appropriation of social corporate social responsibility funds, and strengthens compliance management,” the company said in a statement. The flagship of South Korea’s top conglomerate Samsung Group has been at the center of an influence-peddling scandal that led South Korea’s parliament to impeach President Park Geun-hye in December. Jay Y. Lee, leader of Samsung Group and Samsung Elec...

TransferWise launches international money transfers via Facebook

Image
Money transfer company TransferWise has launched a new service that allows users to send money internationally through Facebook Inc's chat application, as competition in the digital payments landscape intensifies. The London-based startup said on Tuesday that it had developed a Facebook Messenger "chatbot", or an automated program that can help users communicate with businesses and carry out tasks such as online purchases. TransferWise's chatbot enables customers to send money to friends and family to and from the United States, Britain, Canada, Australia and Europe from Facebook Messenger. It can also be used to set up exchange rate alerts. Facebook already allows its users to send money domestically in the United States via its Messenger app, but has not yet launched similar services internationally. TransferWise said its service will be the first to enable international money transfers entirely within Messenger. Facebook opened up its Messenger app to d...

Snap bets on hardware as Facebook threat looms

Image
Snap Inc takes to the road in London on Monday to promote its initial public offering with a daring proposition: that it can build hot-selling hardware gadgets and ad-friendly software features fast enough to stay one step ahead of Facebook. No longer just a purveyor of a smartphone app for disappearing messages, Snap has hired hundreds of hardware engineers, built a secretive product development lab and scoured the landscape for acquisitions as it pursues its newly stated ambition to be "a camera company." These efforts, which are aimed at developing hardware and so-called augmented reality technologies, are central to the strategy of a company that is seeking a valuation of up to $22 billion in its early March IPO despite heavy losses and the specter of stiff competition for advertising dollars with a far-larger Facebook. There is little precedent for a company with its roots in software and social networking succeeding in the notoriously difficult consumer hardw...

Ford Motor set to invest $1billion in vehicle tech firm Agro AI

Image
Ford Motor Co plans to invest $1 billion over the next five years in tech startup Argo AI to help the Detroit automaker reach its goal of producing a self-driving vehicle for commercial ride sharing fleets by 2021, the companies announced on Friday. The investment in Pittsburg-based Argo AI, founded by former executives on self-driving teams at Google and Uber, will make Ford the company's largest shareholder. Ford Chief Executive Officer Mark Fields said the investment is in line with previous announcements on planned capital expenditures. Argo AI, which focuses on artificial intelligence and robotics, will help build what Ford calls its "virtual driver system" at the heart of the fully autonomous car Ford said last year it would develop by 2021. "With Argo AI’s agility and Ford's scale we're combining the benefits of a technology start up with the experience and discipline we have at Ford," Fields s...
