News-Flood advisory in place for Livingston, Oakland counties as bands of storms roll through
Two tornado warnings for Oakland and Livingston counties have been allowed to expire Friday night.
Currently a flood advisory is underway in Oakland County and Livingston County until 1:15 a.m.
There reports of flooding along I-75 and in Rose, Holly and Groveland Townships.
The band of storms will carry with it 60 mile per hour wind gusts and quarter-size hail.
Radar indicated rotation. Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.
According to the National Weather Service, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 7 miles northwest of Grass Lake, or 9 miles northeast
of Jackson, moving east at 20 mph.
During tornado warnings, the NWS advises moving to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
